Building Capacity for Relationship-centered Care
Dr. Duffy developed the Quality-Caring Model, an approach to Relationship-centered Care that focuses on the primacy of relationships in clinical practice. It has been translated into practice at several US hospitals, particularly by registered nurses. Data generated at these sites has demonstrated positive preliminary results; extension to other health disciplines and the community-based heart failure patient population has occurred. Empowering clinicians to acknowledge patient experiences of care and adjust their practice/s by providing close to real time feedback and support using information technology is the most recent focus of this work. Results have the potential to improve patient, provider, and system outcomes.
