If you're planning ahead for the next semester, partner with Health and Wellness Promotion to bolster your class syllabus. Request a presentation from them on a number of health-related topics from substance use, healthy relationships, mental health and resiliency, and more.

Undergraduate students with a minimum of one year of college education and graduate students can apply for the Mayor’s Office Internship Program. The program provides students the opportunity to learn about and contribute to city government, hear from local leaders, and experience the day-to-day operations of Indianapolis. This is a great opportunity for students interested in starting a career in public service or generally learning more about the structure of local government. Application deadline is 11:59 P.M. on July 31, 2022.

Are you or someone you know interested in advancing the science of informatics and methods applied to public health or population health? If so, the Regenstrief Institute and the IU Fairbanks School of Public Health are recruiting postdoctoral fellows for the Public Health and Population Health Informatics Fellowship program. 

The 2022 IU Online Conference (October 26-28) is now accepting proposals for their virtual conference. Proposals that spotlight innovative online instructional techniques, online student success initiatives, or other best practices in the various facets of effective online education will be accepted. The theme this year is Recharge and Go. Sessions will be 45 minutes long. Deadline to submit a proposal is Monday, July 11, 2022.

Does your team need IT training? Summer might be the best time to do it. Contact UITS IT Training for a customized training experience for your class, team, group, or department. Topics include: Digital Security, Coding and Web Development Skills, Microsoft and Adobe Applications, and more. 

Applications are now open for the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship, supported by Lilly Endowment Inc. This program gives central Indiana artists and arts administrators a chance to tap into the meaning behind their work. Past fellows have used the $10,000 grant for travel, research, conferences, workshops, retreats, and other renewing experiences. Application deadline is July 17, 2022.

The IU Center for Survey Research has capabilities from traditional survey design and data collection (using web, mail, telephone, in-person) to qualitative interviews to specimen collection. They provide up to 2 hours of free consultation to any IU faculty, staff, or student and then charge based on hourly rates determined by the university. During the academic year, they offer free weekly consulting at two locations on the Bloomington campus (Tuesdays from 10-12 and Wednesdays from 12-1:30) but are happy to meet by Zoom for people in Indy.

New research funding from IU addresses racial and ethnic disparities specific to substance use disorder. $25,000 is available per grant. Funding will be available to IU faculty without regard to field or discipline to address this critical issue as broadly as possible. The research must be innovative, new, or reflect a new application of existing research. Priority will be given to efforts that seek to better understand and meet the needs of communities of color and utilize engagement methods with partners or the communities (such as community-based participatory research or person-centered outcomes research methods) which build sustainable relationships and trust in communities. All IU faculty (whether tenure-track or clinical track) on all IU campuses are welcome to apply.

The 2023 - 2024 U.S. Fulbright Scholar competition is now open. The program awards American scholars more than 800 fellowships annually to nearly 140 countries, where they lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

• Grant benefits vary, but they generally include travel and living expenses for the awardee and accompanying dependents.
• Open to U.S. citizens (permanent residents are not eligible).
• Application deadline: Sept. 15, 2022.

Do you need equipment, datasets or software to help conduct your research? IU researchers can search an online database to find university resources that are shareable with researchers or submit their own equipment from their laboratory or core to encourage broader use.

The Indiana Statistical Consulting Center supports IU faculty, staff and graduate students by helping with the planning phase, writing the methodological portion of grant proposals, carrying out the proposed analysis and writing up results once the grant is funded. Collaborators will meet free of charge with the agreement that their efforts will be compensated by the grant if funded.

IU's Innovation and Commercialization Office provides technical assistance on the commercialization of technology, including grant writing and submission in agency-specific systems such as ASSIST, FastLane, Grants.gov, eBRAP, etc. Contact Amie Frame at ude[dot]ui[at]emarfima for more information.
